Technical Article Abstract
Dexamet™, the new coronary stent coated with phosphorylcholine (PC) technology preloaded with dexamethasone from Abbott Vascular Devices, is the second coronary stent preloaded with a therapeutic agent to gain CE approval and is commercially available from 1 January 2003.The dexamethasone-loaded coronary stent was investigated in the European Study of Anti-restenosis with the BiodivYsio™ Dexamethasone Eluting Stent (STRIDE) clinical trial. A series of clinical studies (EMPEROR: EU randomised, DESCEND: registry with the American Chemical Society (ACS)) are also under way to further validate the efficacy and safety of Dexamet stents determined in STRIDE.
